Texas Education Code §39.0545 as passed by the 83rd Texas legislature, requires the "district" to evaluate itself and each of its campuses in the area of "community and student engagement" as they relate to eight different categories, and submit a rating of "Exemplary, Recognized, Acceptable, or Unacceptable" to the Texas Education Agency by August 8 of each year for each category: Fine Arts, Wellness & Physical Education, Community & Parental Involvement, 21st Century Workforce Development, Second Language Acquisition Program, The Digital Learning Environment, Dropout Prevention Strategies, Gifted & Talented Programs
